Borderland review

Borderland revolves around three friends who decide to take a trip down to Mexico for some fun before they go off to college. Instead of cheap beer and drugs, they end up running into a satanic cult that sacrifices humans. When the cult kidnaps one of our protagonists and the police show no interest in assisting, the other two go on a frantic search to retrieve their friend. Based on a true story, Borderland is a precursor to the torture porn genre that’s become so popular in today’s society.

Sadly, Borderland is a mess. While it does differ from every torture porn film in existence (since it has one of those foreign concepts called a plot), the film splits between a potentially evoking and tightly paced beginning that quickly becomes a gore free for all that lasts almost entirely to the end.

If you regard any of the Saw movies as remotely good, Borderland is another to add to the collection. If you’re looking for something that possesses consistency and rationale, stay very far away.
