Alex Proyas’ DARK CITY is going the route of E.T. and STAR WARS with an upcoming Director’s Cut. Proyas and writer David Goyer have been hard at work “improving” the special effects and remixing the soundtrack to the 1998 sci-fi/film noir. They have not yet released information on any of the special features or what exactly we are to expect but surely this will all be revealed soon enough. The DVD will hit the streets on July 29th, retailing for $19.95. The Blu-Ray will come out on the same day and retail for $34.99.

This is one of those films that I feel I should like but for some reason it just doesn’t do it for me. I wouldn’t mind checking out the director’s cut though to see what they felt they needed to improve on. Maybe they will replace Kiefer Sutherland with a fully CGI character. That might improve things… but only slightly.
i found this movie stunning, since i first saw it on the big screen, and cannot wait for the new edition.
