Every time I try to get out, they pull me back in. My relationship with the Friday The 13th franchise is kind of like Michale Corleone’s relationship with organized crime: I’ve never been a big fan of it, I’ve told myself on numerous occasions that I can’t subject myself to more of it … but dammit, I keep coming back for more. And to make things worse, this one was actually pretty good.

In a lot of ways, Australia is a relatively similar country to Canada or the U.S. We share a common language, have a lot of similar customs and enjoy much of the same entertainment. In other ways, however, Australia is bizarro land.

The Trap

DIRECTOR

What happens to the souls of loving and caring parents when their child is dying and they can’t afford the operation that is desperately needed, has been the subject of more conventional films like JOHN Q, starring Denzel Washington. But JOHN Q, which in my opinion was underrated and only slightly contrived, positively pales in comparison to THE TRAP.

If David Lynch and Peter Bogdanovich sat down and decided over dinner to co-create a black comedy, it would turn out to be something like AALTRA.

Cannibal Terror review

Cannibal Terror

DIRECTOR
STARRING
You know what the problem with CANNIBAL TERROR is? There’s just not enough cannibal action. Although cannibals are featured in this film, they are featured so incidentally that they really don't merit being included in the film’s title.

Sergio Bergonzelli’s IN THE FOLDS OF THE FLESH is nothing short of demented. Touted as one of the most over-the-top films in the giallo genre, ItFotF won’t disappoint anyone looking for an hour and a half of incest, murder and Freudian-influenced psycho babble.

I really do not know where to start with this movie. I was told before I watched it that it was seen as the worst movie ever made. Well, there have been plenty of movies that I have liked even though the majority of people did not, and vice versa, so I had to give THINGS a chance.

The Unborn review

The Unborn

DIRECTOR
STARRING
Like most people, I went to attend a screening of THE UNBORN with overpriced food and trigger-happy scorn at hand. The last 47 horror films that we were fed by Hollywood made us wish for a fate usually reserved for the onscreen victims.

My Bloody Valentine (1981 & 2009)

DIRECTOR
STARRING
Leading up to the premiere of My Bloody Valentine 3D, I thought it would be a good idea to check out the original 1981 version of the film so I could compare the two. I went old school and rented ’81 Valentine on VHS.
