Masters of Horror: Sounds Like DVD review

Masters of Horror: Sounds Like DVD coverBrad Anderson has quickly proven himself as one of the new Masters of Horror with only two genre films under his belt. SESSION 9 and THE MACHINIST were both psychological studies of how our own minds can sometimes create the worst possible horrors imaginable and his entry into the MoH series continues along these very same lines.

Chris Bauer (8mm, Face/Off) is Larry Pearce, a call center manager whose entire life revolves around listening and assuring a level of quality amongst his employees. Focusing so much on his necessity to hear over the years has overly developed this one of his senses and it is now slowly driving him to brink of sanity. Pearce does an exceptional job of construing the grinding day to day horrors of his predicament and watching (and hearing) the slow build of all the noises in his life drags the viewer kicking and screaming right into soft gooey grey matter of his fractured mind. One of the better episodes from Season 2, any fan of Anderson’s should add this one to their collection, right next to his other two masterpieces of horror.
