The Lost review
First impressions are critical, and I find this especially true when it comes to movies. It takes either real dedication or lack of anything better to do, to commit yourself to an hour and a half of a movie when you find yourself bored out of your mind within the first twenty minutes.Posted by Sandra Winfield
The Burrowers review
The idea of some unimaginable creature hunting us down is one of the scariest things I can think of. Films like TREMORS do it with a sense of humour. Films like ALIEN do it in a bleak future. But few films have done it in a time where modern contrivances were nonexistent and the world was nothing more than a few wood buildings scattered throughout the continent. Ah, the old West.Posted by Bavota San
The Descent (2006) DVD review
A friendly group of strong women spelunkers meet once a year to go, well...spelunking. Who ever wrote this film, took modern film theory in college. I'd bet money. Or, alternately, I could churn out a rather excellent essay about this film using basic feminist psychoanalysis--and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.Posted by Dweezil
