Chances are, you’ve probably already seen the trailer for Quarantine, the shot-for-shot American remake of the Spanish horror film [REC], set for release in October of this year. But why should horror fans bother with what’s more than likely another pointless and poorly rehashed version of a great movie when the original is not only an enormous critical success, but is actually bloody terrifying?

While covering the night shift at a small-town fire department, an ambitious young television reporter (Manuela Velasco) and her cameraman follow the crew on a call to rescue an elderly woman unable to escape the inferno that is consuming her home. Upon their arrival at the scene, the calm midnight air is pierced by the sound of horrific screams, and the television report takes an unexpectedly dark turn. Directed by Jaume Balaguero & Paco Plaza.
